Background Information

Developing Families Together (DFT) is an indigenous, non-profit making and non-governmental development organization established in March 2002. It has now re-registered and licensed by the F.D.R.E Authority for Civil Society Organizations in accordance with the new civil society organizations proclamation NO.1113/2011 by registration NO.0087. DFT has well organized governing body to lead the organization. DFT is board lead organization that provide directions, guidance and management of the organization. The Executive Director is responsible to overall activities of DFT and the finance and administration department is responsible to manage and direct the organizational financial transaction. Project officer, social worker, project coordinator, accountant, casher and executive director are key staff of the project.

DFT operates in the Addis Ababa city, Amhara National Regional State (ANRS), Oromia National Regional State, Southern Nations, Nationalities and People Regional State, Sidam Regional State and Benishangul Gumuz Regional State. DFT has implemented gender focus, women empowerment and community development projects and achieved results that brought impacts on targeted populations.

DFT is working in partnership with the Stephen Lewis Foundation, The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA), PEPFAR Ethiopia Coordination Office, Plan International Ethiopia, Ethiopia Social Accountability Program Coordination office and USAID. LUCIA Charity. By working with local and international partners, DFT has acquired adequate experiences and capacity on women empowerment and community development programs. DFT has grown from one success to another, making a positive difference in the lives of over 250,000 Ethiopians.
